How We Got Here
Mike Z arrived in Fort Myers from Rochester, NY to earn his degree in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at Florida Gulf Coast University. By 2012, he was working in real estate — and it didn’t take long to see what was broken.
The rental and property management industry was stuck. Everything was done traditionally, nobody was adopting technology, and the guest and owner experience reflected it. Managers were reactive, not proactive. Owners were underinformed. Guests were underserved.
In 2016, Mike founded Mike Z Rentals with a clear mission: deliver a level of service the market had never seen, backed by cutting-edge technology that drives real competitive advantage. Not just keeping up with the market — consistently beating it.
What followed was remarkable — not because of aggressive marketing, but because of the opposite. Nearly the entire growth of Mike Z Rentals has come from word of mouth and referrals. Owners told other owners. Guests came back and brought friends. The service spoke for itself.
Today, Mike Z Rentals manages 180+ properties across Florida and Michigan. We’re not a faceless multi-state corporation that’s lost sight of the people it serves. We are a mid-sized, family-owned and operated business — and that’s exactly how we like it. It means every owner gets real attention, every guest gets real care, and every property is treated like it matters.

Born in Rochester, NY and educated at Florida Gulf Coast University with a degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, Mike founded MZR in 2016 after seeing how far short the industry fell from where it could be. He is Florida-licensed in real estate and obsessively focused on systems, technology, and raising the bar on what property management looks like.
Nick oversees the day-to-day operational engine of Mike Z Rentals — keeping properties running, vendors coordinated, and owners informed. His attention to detail and process-driven approach ensures consistency across every property in the portfolio.
Wade is the voice guests hear when they have a question, a need, or a problem. He brings genuine hospitality to every interaction and holds the guest experience to the same standard Mike set from day one.
